Back to the Future

BBC / Ice Cream is 1 of my favorite clothing lines. What particularly made me take a liking to the line was the concept, freedom & creativity of the brands design. Many of the characteristics of the line are displayed in the actual architecture of the BBC / Ice Cream stores, but I remember when construction first started on the NYC Flagship store back in 2007...

LOOSEWORLD X Sofia Maldonado part 1

Visual Artist Sofia Maldonado has a little something for Times Square’s tourists. She’s just finished a dope as hell mural featuring explosive colors, organic forms, and a crew of Latina women.

Backed by the Cuban Artists Fund and the Times Square Alliance, Sofia spent two weeks sketching, painting, and detailing the the wood cut-outs that make up the piece. Starting February 26, look for the splash of culture on 42nd Street between 7th and 8th avenues.

LOOSEWORLD snuck into the Blank SL8 space at Port Authority to get a peek of the work in progress. Watch our video to hear from the artist herself about the mural and her experiences on the mean streets of Hartford, Connecticut.

Thanks to Sofia Maldonado, Christina Santanastaso, Ka-Man Tse, Glenn Weiss, and the Times Square Alliance.

Check out the Times Square Alliance and what they had to say about the event, Sofia, and putting up some ethnic art in the middle of touristTown.

Part 2 coming soon…

Tim Burton at MoMA

The director Tim Burton doesn't just make enchantingly loony movies like Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Batman and The Nightmare Before Christmas. He also makes enchantingly loony paintings and drawings, which he's been scribbling away at since his suitably alienated childhood in Burbank, California. Aye, Im weird but not as weird as Tim B, but I fux with his shit!!! Who don't like Nightmare before Christmas??? Hell, he directed the Pee wee movies mayne :-p
